Federal University of Kashere was established in February, 2011 (Establishment Act 2015) with the mandate to increase access to and quality of University education in Nigeria. Job Title: Registrar and Secretary to the Governing Council

Location: Gombe

Job Decription

  • The Registrar is a Principal Officer of the University.
  • He/She is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-today administration of the University.
  • Candidate must have good understanding of the vision and mission of the University.
  • He/she shall have personal integrity, the ability to provide good leadership and be able to command respect and loyalty of staff of the University.
  • The Registrar is Secretary to Council, Senate, Congregation and Convocation.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should have at least a Second Class (Lower Division) Honours Degree in a relevant field (e.g. Arts, Social Sciences, Administration etc) from a recognised University.
  • Possession of higher degree(s) in relevant subject will be an advantage.
  • Candidates must be computer literate and should be a member of at least one or more relevant Professional Bodies like NIM, IPMN, ANUPA, etc.

Experience:

  • Candidates must have at least fifteen (15) years post qualification experience, ten (10) of which should be relevant to University Administration.
  • Candidate must have served for at least five (5) years as Deputy Registrar in a University.

Áge:

  • Candidates must not be more than sixty (60) years of age at the time of appointment.

Health:

  • Candidates must enjoy good health to be able to endure the rigours of the duties of the Registrar.

Duration of Appointment:

  • The appointment shall be for a single term of five (5) years.

Job Title: Bursar

Location: Gombe

Job Description

  • The Bursar is a Principal Officer and is the Head of Bursary Department.
  • Candidates for the post shall be visionary and have the ability to provide good leadership, possess personal integrity and demonstrate transparency in private and public life and must be able to command the respect and loyalty of staff of the University

 Responsibilities

  • By virtue of his position, the Bursar coordinates the development and upgrading of the University’s strategic plan and ensure the development and updating of the University’s financial management plans.
  • The Bursar should also be able to coordinate the preparation of periodic income and expenditure, balance sheet and cash flow estimates and consolidation where necessary.
  • The holder of the office shall ensure that accurate records are maintained of all assets and liabilities held by the University and be able to monitor monthly income and expenditure and balance sheet variances against the budgets amongst other schedules.
  • The Bursar should provide the University Management with appropriate advice on all the Institution’s financial transactions

Duration of Appointment:

  • The Bursar shall hold office for a single term of five (5) years.

Qualifications
Candidates should possess the following:

  • A good honours Degree or equivalent in Accountancy from a recognised Institutions, possession of a higher degree(s) is an added advantage
  • Must be a qualified member of a professional body such as ICAN, ACCA, ANAN;
  • Must have a minimum of Fifteen (15) years cognate experience, ten (10) years of which must be service in the University system;
  • Must have attained the rank of a Deputy Bursar, or its equivalent in a University and must have served in that rank for at least three years in a University
  • Must be computer literate with a working knowledge of relevant accounting packages.

 

 

 

 

Job Title: University Librarian

Location: Gombe

The Position

  • He/she is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day to day effective management of the University library
  • The University Librarian is responsible for coordination of library services in the University.
  • The University Librarian is a Principal Officer of the University

Qualifications

  • Candidate must demonstrate Academic Excellence through quality publications, teaching and research and must be computer proficient
  • He / she must demonstrate proficiency in the application of new technologies to the library operation and services and must be registered with relevant professional body(ies).
  • Candidates should have a Professional Degree plus Ph.D in relevant area from recognised Institutions

Experience:

  • The Candidate must have at least fifteen (15) years post qualification relevant experience, ten (10) of which should be relevant to University Library and other higher Educational institution Academic library Administration
  • The University Librarian must possess good Leadership qualities, be of proven integrity and resourceful manager of human and materials.

Age:

  • Applicant must not be more than sixty (60) years of age at the time of appointment.

Health:

  • Applicant must enjoy good health to be able to endure the rigours of the duties of the University Librarian.

Condition of Service

  • The appointment shall be for a single term of five (5) years in the first instance which may extended for one (1) year based on satisfactory performance as specified under the First Schedule Section of the University Law

Job Title: Director, Physical Planning Department

Location: Gombe

The Position

  • He/she is responsible for the coordination and supervision of physical developmental projects; ensures quality, standard of the infrastructures of the University.
  • The Director Physical Planning is a Management staff answerable to the Vice-Chancellor on the Physical Planning Development of the University

The Person

  • He/she must also be receptive to new ideas and willing to translate them into new projects in line with the phased physical development plans of the University.
  • The Director must be a person of high integrity who demonstrate transparency in public and private life as well as command the respect and loyalty of staff of the University

Qualifications Candidates should possess the following:

  • Candidate must be registered with relevant professional body
  • Candidate must be computer literate with working knowledge of relevant softwares.
  • A good honors Degree and / or Master’s Degree in Architecture, Quantity Survey, Building, Civil Engineering or Construction Management from a recognized University with not less than fifteen (15) years cognate experience, eight (8) of which must be in a University system or similar tertiary Institutions.
  • Candidates must have attained the position of Deputy Director or its equivalent in a University system or Tertiary Institution;

  • The Conditions of Service attached to the position of Director, Physical Planning Department are as obtainable in Federal Universities in Nigeria
  • The salary and allowances are applicable to Officers on CONUNASS 15.

 

Job Title: Director, Health Services Department

Location: Gombe

The Position

  • The Medical Director, Health Services is a management Staff answerable to the Vice- Chancellor
  • He / She is responsible for the execution of policies and matters affecting day-to-day management of the University Health Centre.

The Person

  • He/she must also be receptive to new ideas and willing to translate them in line with health services development plans of the University.
  • The Director must be a person of high integrity who demonstrates transparency in public and private life as well as command the respect and loyalty of staff of the University

Qualifications Candidates should possess the following:

  • Knowledge of Information and Communication Technology is an added advantage
  • Candidate must be medically and mentally lit;
  • Candidate must be Fellow(s) of either the National Post Graduate Medical College of Nigeria or the West African Post Graduate Medical College or its equivalent registered by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria;
  • Candidate must have been a Consultant.
  • Candidate must be a Medical / Dental practitioner registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria of not less than ten (10) post qualification experience

Job Title: Vice-Chancellor

Location: Gombe

Responsibilities

  • The Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Executive and the Academic Head of the University, he/she is the Chairman of the Senate and Congregation and member of the Governing Council.

The Vice-Chancellor shall among other duties;

  • Promote research, teaching and high standard of academic excellence;
  • Be responsible to Council for the maintenance of peace, law and order in the University;
  • Be competent at all times to advise the Council on all matters affecting the policy, finance and administration of the University;
  • Regulate the admission of students, subject to the guidelines and procedures approved by the Senate and other statutory bodies;
  • Be responsible for staff and students discipline and welfare in the University.

The Person
Applicants for the position of Vice-Chancellor, Federal University, Kashere must be distinguished scholars with outstanding academic and administrative records. He/she must be a proven manager of human and material resources. Specifically, the person must:

  • Have spent not less than fifteen (15) years in the University system with at least seven (7) years experience as Professor with the ability to provide academic and administrative leadership for the University;
  • Should have a good understanding of the vision and mission of the University. Hence, a vision statement not exceeding 1000 words is required;
  • Be able to attract research grants and complementary funds from Local and International Agencies, and further uplift the academic status of the University;
  • Possess personal integrity in the management of funds and be able to deploy financial resources as appropriate in the context of the University’s strategic plan;
  • Be able to exhibit entrepreneurial drive and ability to attract extra statutory funds and mobilize other resources for the development of the University;
  • Have excellent written and spoken communication skills;
  • Should be in position to ensure the enforcement of the University’s laws and regulations;
  • Be information and technology proficient and be committed to the development of ICT into the University programmes and services;
  • Be of excellent physical and mental health;
  • Not be more than Sixty-five (65) years of age by 16th February, 2016 when the position is scheduled to be occupied.
  • Demonstrate interpersonal and team building skills and possess the ability to build bridges between staff, students and members of the University Community and stakeholders;
  • Have demonstrable abilities to establish and maintain partnerships with Local, International, Government Agencies and Organizations;
  • Be an individual who, judging from his/her track records, is likely to command the respect as well as the loyalty of the members of staff and University Community;
  • Be able to demonstrate the ability to attract, motivate and retain highly skilled and talented staff (Teaching and Non-teaching);

Remuneration
The salary and other conditions of service are similar to what is obtained in the Nigerian University System. Placement of the successful candidates would be on enhanced steps within the appropriate CONHESS or CONUASS grade as an incentive.
